Im taking a car for this (amongs other reasons) to the dealer. in 2 WD, when I slow down from 20mph to a stop, I feel and hear downshifts a little bit. Its not bad but Im very sensitive to noises. Is that normal? Maybe when the car is cold I hear/fell it more. I have never owned a 4x4 so maybe that is normal. Car only has 25K so its impossible that it may have tranny issues. I believe that has something to do with a fact that car has a transfer case.

I know that some of you may have a solution to pump up the volume on my radio - I got that. But seriously - am I too sensitive to feel it all. I should not feel or hear anything.

Thanks

2009 Tahoe. In most cars I drove I dont hear a little quiet bang. I feel downshift as rpms change - but that is not the noise. Its more like a click when downshifts. Upshifts - nothing.

Let's get something squared away right off the bat. It's a TRUCK, not a car. If you want to get more specific and still only type three letters, then go with SUV. But these aren't cars. Got it? Ok...

;)

It is NOT impossible for your '09 to have tranny problems. I believe that MY '09 also has tranny problems -- and mine has +/- 31,000 on it. I have hated this tranny since day-one. I now have a new vibration, and can feel (and hear) the downshifting more and more. I think there's something wrong with the tranny/drivetrain, but I can't put my finger on it yet, and don't want the ol' "it's normal" nonsense from the dealership.

So, in the meantime, I'm waiting for things to get worse so that it'll be perfectly obvious to the GM tech that something's not right. That, or maybe some here will be able to pinpoint causes of the issues I'm having.

You're not alone. My tranny isn't right, and yours probably isn't either. Hopefully more people will chime in.

I think that '09 was the first year of the 6-speed tranny that you and I have. If you drove an '07 with the 4-speed, it probably felt great. My '02's tranny was great. This one is not.

Really, its a 6 speed? hmmm... It did feel a little diff that at 30-40 mph it was in 4th gear. But it should not be clicking/quiet banging on downshifts. My buddy says that its maybe its a u joint. It kind of feel like engine mount that went bad and motor is moving - just that noise/feel. We will see what dealer says on tuesday.

That 07 felt like it had more power - maybe my air filter was never changed. We will see.
I just bought the car so Im trying to feel the car out.
