I have an 07 Yukon XL that is the Regency edition. It has those stupid fender vents on it. I want to remove them, however, they appear to be riveted/screwed to the fender. I have not attempted to remove them yet. If they are, short of either replacing or repairing the fenders, does anyone have any ideas of how to "hide" the holes??? My Yukon has two tone paint with a painted pin stripe, so painting the fenders would cost more than normal. Help please.

If they are, in fact, riveted/screwed on no matter what route you go you're looking at getting paint work done on that fender. If it was me, I'd take the 'vents' off, fill the holes with fiberglass filler (Brand: Everlast for body working), sand it down, put a coat or two of Metal Glaze (Brand: Everlast again) while sanding that down real well between coats, then have a body shop do the paint work. If you have the tools and know how you could do the paint on your own but most don't have that capability and would be best to leave it to the pros.

You get the idea of the general process, though. I'm surprised they are riveted on, though. I thought the only ones like that were possible the Escalades.

I am going to pull the wheel well liners loose later so I can see up in the fender to double check. The Regency edition is kind of a mix between the Denali and Escalade. I just really liked the two tone paint. I hate the aftermarket grille and the fender vents. I actually think is has too much chrome too.

I have never tried to paint a car. I have done fiberglass work on boats before, so I am sure I could handle the hole filling/blending.

It really is pretty easy if you know what you're doing and it's not to expensive to fill the holes. Getting the fenders painted will be the pricey part depending on if they feel like they have to paint the whole fender or not.

I would think that they could just tape off from the pin strip up and then only have to paint one color.

Most likely so. That sounds logical to me. How far are the holes from the pinstripe line?

The only issue might be with those holes so close to that second color is the patching of holes and getting it smoothed back out may require getting into that second color a little bit so the shop may end up having to spray both colors  Someone on this board has got to be a painter and they may know better about this aspect but I can see that being an issue and therefore not being as easy as just spraying the one color from the pinstripe down.

Got any pics of the ride you can throw up here?
