Hello All.

I am currently driving a 2017 Tahoe LT. I purchased new in June of 2018. As of today, I have about 5,100 miles. My oil life is at about 28%. Maintenance manual says to service at 7,500 miles. However, I probably won't hit that until I have it about a year.

I have my first 2 oil changes and tire rotations included (for 2 years). Should I wait until I am closer to 7,500 or should I service now? Does the every 6 months rule apply to the Tahoe?

Dealer has been sending me emails since I was at 3,000 miles that I am overdue for service.

Do it. For one, you want to rotate. Also, I believe the dealer will do your oil as long as you're under 30% on the monitor.

I used my first dealer oil change at 800 miles. Did the second one at 5800 miles. Firm believer in having your oil changed relatively quickly when purchased new.

I waited a little longer than I wanted to (raining and shit weather every weekend since I bought it)and did the first oil change at 2700. It wasn't nearly as clean as I had thought it would be. Do it sooner, rather than later. Oil is cheap

I did my first oil change at 4K miles. It was mostly highway miles as I took my Tahoe on a run to NYC immediately after getting it.

After that it is every 5K miles with 0w20 Mobil 1 and a AC Delco Filter. The oil coming out is still decent looking...Just a slightly dark amber look..It is still on the full mark...OLM is anywhere from 28 to 35 percent.

I would not push over 5K miles with Direct Injection. That is just IMHO.
