Hi all!
Just picked up a 1999 Tahoe LT 4X4 that has been sitting for a good bit and finally got it running. Runs strong but the vehicle needs some TLC and will be a bit of a project for me.
I do a lot of Dual Sport and Off Road motorcycle riding and some of the rides out west (I live in GA) means I am towing my bike out there and that was not much fun with my Focus. The Focus could tow two bikes and gear alright but sometimes stopping became an issue plus I really wanted the ability to carry 4 bikes, people, and gear in relative comfort. But I also did not want to break the bank and when a friend of mine told me about this Tahoe that had been sitting in his yard I decided to take a look at it. The rest is history.
So far it runs well but I can see that I need to replace the door hinge pins /bushings and probably the door seals as well. Also need to take a look at the AC - for some reason the PO cut off the electrical connector to the AC clutch.
Right now it is at the tire shop getting new shoes. That was a funny experience since the shop manager asked me what size tires it had on it and I said "which wheel do you want to look at?"
I enlisted my daughter into the project by putting her in charge of cleaning it. She has named it 'Yetti'. I asked her why and she said because it was big, white, and smells. Doesn't smell as bad now but I suspect at sometime I will be replacing the carpet.
Looking forward to this project and any tips and tricks I can steal off the forum.
