I just bought a 2008 Escalade and the front seats seem much more flat than I remember from others I’ve driven but I could be wrong about that. Whether it’s normal or not, is there any way to get a little more side bolster support? The bottom cushion is a bit worn out but the back one appears to be ok. It may be normal but if there’s something I can do, I’d love to know. The seats in the 2007 SRX this is replacing seem much more comfortable.

You could try buying new foam for it and replacing that. Alot of miles?

I was planning on replacing the bottom cushion but the back cushion costs 3x as much as the bottom one so that’s why I figured I’d see if anyone agrees with me and already tried to do something about it before I spend the money for the back cushion. Plus, it’s looking like I may have to put a damn transmission in this thing so that may put a stop to a bunch of things I wanted to do.

I have an '08 Burb LTZ.... I also noticed the seats didn't seem as form fitting as the seats in my 2000 Esky.... it seemed flat as you described and also seemed like I sat up higher... like I was sitting ON the truck rather than IN the truck if that makes any sense... after driving it for a while I got used to it and it feels normal now.

That is a really good way to describe it. I've had a lot of seat time in GMT800's over the years working on them and both of my parents still have them. I was honestly thinking about pulling the seat back off and seeing if there's something I can do to the lumbar support to make the middle sink in a little more. Maybe I will get used to it. The seat bottom in the SRX is uncomfortable to me but the back is in the Escalade, I wish I could combine the two! I was also considering a Mercedes GL450/550 and the seat in that thing was great. I figured the Escalade would be cheaper to own but it looks like I get to start my ownership with a $2000 transmission.

Just to add another observation to this, I drove a base 2012 Yukon the other day that had clutch seats and a manual lumbar and it certainly felt like the seat was more supportive and also felt like it could move just a tiny bit further back and down. I’m going to compare part numbers when I have a chance and see what’s different.

It needs a new foam underneath! My 2006 seat was pretty comfy when I bought it, but the leather was torn and it drove my nuts! So when I bought the replacement leather cushion I decided what the heck I may as well do the foam underneath while I have it opened up! So I did both at the same time and it made the world of a difference! It’s like sitting in a lazy boy chair while I’m driving. Lol

I already ordered a new bottom cushion but it's more the back I feel is a bit uncomfortable. I'm going to pull the seat back cover off and check out the lumbar and make sure it's working right when I have a chance also (probably when I go to do the bottom cushion).
