Hello all,

New to me 2002 yukon, I just installed a flip out head unit and its great. Good audio controls, and now I have a back up camera. But it hits the dash and I can hear the motor trying to open the screen further for a few seconds, then it stops. I plan on ordering a 1/2" spacer that I found online.

In the mean time, my question is, anyone with experience with flip out units, can you tell me if the motor is going to have issues because its trying to open further for a few seconds? And after the point that it stops trying to finish opening, is the motor still trying and maybe burning out, or does it just try for a few seconds and then stop applying power?

Thank you for any help, and yes I will go DD in the near future after the holidays. I just got my yukon and needed to upgrade the stock radio asap.

Unless it is some super cheap china crap it should have a adjustment in the settings

When I had one I was able to adjust for the amount of tilt in the settings.
ya I had a couple of them before they got stolen and I could adjust them, I used to like flip outs but apparently others liked them more, that's what drove me to get $1000 alarm systems

Mine also used to hit my shifter, so I had to take it out of park 1st before turning it on.

Thanks for the input guys. I've adjusted it out as far as possible in the settings on the unit. I have ordered the 1/2" spacer, that should give it more than enough room.

For free, you can bend the shift column slightly up so your flip will clear when in park. Other members here gave me the idea. It works.

Another option is buying an aftermarket shorter billet shifter. Too pricey for me.
