I was driving home from a little trip, roughly 2.5 hours round trip. While driving home I noticed my temp gauge was fluctuating from 1/4 to 3/4 all in a very short period of time and quite often. Right when it came down to 1/4, it went right back up to 3/4. Did that several times before it simmered down. Then it threw a code :( . Great

Any ideas on what could do that to the temp gauge?
I still have to get the code read to.

Its a low, very low radiator.
Something I neglected to take care of was that darn heater hose fitting. I had completely forgot about that.
That will be taken care of tomorrow as soon as I get home from work.

Lesson learned, put something off and you are bound to get bit in the asss in the end.

Thank you, I think my motor will be ok, thankfully.

What I was most amazed about was, the fitting itself. I put a socket on it, thats it. I didnt try to loosen it, yet. The fitting literally broke off, just from putting the socket on it. I was in shock. And boy was I lucky this didnt pop off while driving.
Another thing that freaked the sh*t out of me was, the broken part in the manifold, it came out very easy.
I will have pictures tomorrow. I am stoked how well this went.
Hopefully I wont jinx myself, hah.

I replaced that fitting with a barb. No more bull crap quick connect. Actually the quick connect never failed for the first 13 years but its gone now!

I am very curious to see this. Do you have any pictures? Could you please share?
Thanks:Handshake:

This is the fitting. I was quite shocked at how easy it broke from just putting the socket on. Couldve been a lot worse. That extractor is awesome.

unknown at this time.
you got off easy. i wanted to do mine when i took the manifold off for head replacement and removing it destroyed the manifold rendering it useless.

My 93 did the same thing, just pot metal threads left. I pounded a big screwdriver into it and turned the rest out.

Yeah you got off REAL easy ...

Well, we'll see how easy I got off. A friend of mine came over to help me remove a welder from the back of my Tahoe. Thankfully he was there for a ride to the parts store. What I am not very keen about is, when I was getting my small attachment for my vacuum cleaner, he decided to use a small pick to remove any debrit from inside and on the threads. Which was fine, the bad part. He was picking at the intake manifold gasket and pulled a small peice out. I'm hoping there is enough gasket to seal, if not. I may be doing my lower intake manifold gasket, AGAIN.
So, as of now, I have not driven it. I will be keeping my fingers crossed on this one.
