Fog Light Mod

Ok, i have searched everywhere and cannot find a write up for this.

Is there a way i can get my fog lights on my NNBS (08 Suburban) to come on automatically when my headlights come on??? Not sure if this is even possible but i seen somewhere that it was written up for an older model but dont know if our NNBS tahoes and suburbans can be set up this way?

I'm not an expert but it seems to me all you'd have to do is split the low beam signal wire and splice it into the fog light signal wire after the harness plug. I'm not sure how that will affect the fog light switch, meaning I don't know what will happen, if anything at all, if you press it while the lights are on or if you turn on the fogs when the lights are off, but I suspect all will stay the same except you won't be able to have your lows on without fogs. Since that's what you are trying to achieve it seems that just wiring the fogs to the lows is the simplest solution, if not the only one.

I had a buddy that re wired his fogs so they turned on with the head lights then installed aftermarket offroad lights which he re wired to use the fog light switch with.

i was thinking about this last night ahahah thats weird.......................what if you dissconect the fog lights and get power for them from the head lights so when ever the head lights come on the fog lights will come one too...i dont think it would blow a fuse or anything im getting my hids in the fogs soon ill try it btw i am a electrician by trade

I had a "kit" that allowed this on my '02 Tahoe. There doesn't seem to be such a kit for the NNBS trucks. But, I want to do this, too. In fact, I think I made a thread about this a couple years ago. There ARE posts with pics somewhere around here -- it's just that no one, at least at the time, seemed to know whether the re-worked wiring was going to get too hot/hold up over time, so I never pursued it.

Hopefully someone who has had this done to his truck for a while will chime in on this thread.

All you have to do is run a wire to bridge the low signal to the fog signal.

I will have to see if I can locate a wiring schematic for the switch (My GM Service Manual software only goes up to 2005). More than likely it is controlled by the BCM, though.

I would prefer if it was ON by default and the switch could be used to turn them off. Might be able to accomplish this with relays to reverse the output from the switch...but it all depending on the wiring.
