is it loud when idling or just when you step on the gas? Anyone got any sound clips?

CAI's are only loud when you are over 3000RPM. Other than that you will not hear it. By the way, dont buy an AEM. The aluminum tube gets super hot. Go with Volant or K&N with the plastic tube and the box around the filter to keep the hot air out.

What both of these guys said. I don't have a sound clip of my AEM Brute Force but at idle you really can't hear it at all. It's only audible when on the gas.

The aluminized tube actually has a quicker refresh rate and runs cooler temps at speed than the plastic tubes. Also with the amount of cfm going through the truck that value is practically negligible. General ideology is get the most air to the engine possible, AEM is also the easiest filter to maintain. K&N purchased AEM's induction dept because they couldn't compete with the synthetic filter media and AFE's dry flow is a joke. My AEM was much louder when it was the only modification on the truck, now it's only loud at wot past 3000rpm and still quieter than my exhaust. The volant is quieter system but I prefer a louder intake tone with these trucks. Hope this helps

Interesting. From my old vehicles I was always told that the aluminun pipes get too hot, but you make a good point for sure about getting the most air into the engine as possible. I have owned two cars with AEM's on them and was always happy with the quality.
