Ahhh.... the sound of a cold start after 6 weeks under cover. That HF battery tender worked like a charm.

Green light when I opened the hood and started without hesitation welcomed a nice growl this cool Florida morning.

Time for a wash...:)

Washed the other day, Slick Mist wipe down, vacuumed and then rain this weekend.

Today CEL and pulled a PO4055 code. Evap system issue again. Grrr....I just replaced the purge solenoid and the charcoal canister a few months ago and not many miles since then. Have been no issues with fueling at the pump at wide open either. I checked the gas cap as an alternative that had not changed. Still the OEM cap.

I decided to drop into my buddy's shop before the end of the day. He had some time so we spent about 30 minutes with the truck on the lift looking front to back and trying to trace the lines. There is some rust underneath, but to be expected at 13 years old and always living by the ocean. Not tragic, but still present.

We did find a loose hose clamp on the fuel filler tube right next to the gas tank. He couldn't believe it. Tightened it down, cleared the code and the CEL has not returned yet. We shall see how it goes and if it returns.

We checked the font suspension components while it was up in the air. Everything looked good and felt tight. Newly replaced tie rods looked good and even the OEM components are still holding up pretty good thus far.

Back on the lift soon as she's almost due for an oil change.

The hose clamp closest to the fuel tank was loose enough to be able to hand twist the hose on the fuel tank barb. No bueno!

Found a few pictures of my first truck.

1983 Toyota SR5 4x4
4 cylinder 5 speed, no A/C, pretty gutless on the road, but 4 wheeled in the mud and snow like a champ!!
  • 31x10.5 tires
  • Rancho shocks and added front leaf springs to level it out
  • Chrome pieces added e.g. louvered gas cap cover, louvered rear chrome strip under the sliding rear window, B pillar chrome trim
  • Diamond plated bed rail tops
  • Rock guards on the head lights
  • Dad said I couldn't go mudding without a roll bar so I added that and 5 KC HiLites with toggle switches
  • Alpine pull out tape deck
  • Followed up with a Sony Discman with wired tape to play CDs and sometimes quick connect
