from NON-LUX TO LUX UPGRADE

i HAVE THE RPO CODE UQ7 AND THATS IT NO Y91 92.
i HAVEW THE BOSE SOUND SYSTEM AND HU is a cd/cassette/am/fm radio no changer.
i was told that i have the LUX amp already but purchased one off ebay just in case

I have 2003 GMC Yukonxl no onstar
I keep hearing about the VSS wire and I am capable of making the change. I just need to know what wire goes where. also can somebody confirm parts list compatibility.
is it plug and play after dealer program radionand amp in car and I know how to test the system without sending it into antitheft mode so on and so on. Do I need to modify any other harnesses.

I thought about upgrading to the LUX amp in my Tahoe but after installing an aftermarket head unit it sounds almost as good as my Denali which has an aftermarket head unit and the LUXamp.

Unless you're just geeking out over keeping it all oem there is no reason to not go aftermarket. Aftermarket can outperform it in every way provided you don't want to keep a super low budget.

You will have to modify your wire Harness coming from your existing amp and extend those wire to the CD changer. Your radio needs to be programmed to your vehicles vin which can be done at the dealer. Technically speaking, you would have to spend more money after market to chase the sound of a stock Bose system. Your not just paying for the name when it comes to Bose, your posting for premium sound and an 9 channel system with sub, with no distortion or clipping. Try finding an amp that powers all 8 speakers under 200 bucks that's not done cheap Chinese made crap.... Problem is, you won't

I'd take that challenge. IF you notice all of those speakers are still bridged to function as a 4 channel. and for the $200 price I would say you could easily find something which out performs it. especially if you're looking for something used (which the stock bose amp is). And if you want to call the aftermarket stuff cheap chinese crap, you have to call the bose product that as well since it's made in those same shops. It's still a delco product which is licensed by bose. Just a heads up. I completely understand trying to keep it 100% oem, but for the time and effort put into it, I'd still say you'd gain a huge performance improvement moving to an aftermarket system.

Im an audiophile, so trust me, this stuff isn't over my head. I'm clearly stating that for a "premium" sounding system for the OP, he's also lookin at costs and functionality. Going aftermarket from a Bose system costs a lot. Headunit, bypass stock amp, replace Bose papercone speakers with aftermarket ones to pair up with aftermarket amp. Not economical at all. Not to mention the introduction of UN wanted noise and ground loops

Honestly the bose amp is optimized to work with completely stock parts, and is extremely limited in it's capabilities. I'm sure to the untrained ear it sounds great when compared to a stock or premium, but non "LUX" stereo. That being said even with an extremely minimal budget you could absolutely outshine the performance of said "LUX" sound system with an aftermarket equivalent. OF course I'm speaking component for component. Installation parts and Accessories would drive that price to favor the OEM option, but for the overall increase in sound quality and output I'd venture to say someone with the extra money to spend would have no problem choosing it. Having previously been an installer I can tell you I've heard VERY few premium systems which I would consider decent.

Now I'll stop hijacking the OP's thread with my unnecessary opinions. I hope the install goes well and meets and exceeds your expectations!

I completely agree with what your saying. Your opinions are necessary/welcomed to give the op a better understanding of what options are available to him/her. Hell I've spent thousands of dollars on aftermarket equipment only to be disappointed or to have it stolen lol or to have it be outdated a year later. I'm actually piecing together parts for a complete Android system/carputer so I have more control over what options I have available to me vs being locked into a headunit from a big name brand only to have them discontinue or no longer provide support for it cough cough dnx 9990hd. I spent 1300 bucks on that damn thing when I could have spent elsewhere lol

I completely agree with what your saying. Your opinions are necessary/welcomed to give the op a better understanding of what options are available to him/her. I've definitely been there, I had a rcsb silverado with a full Arc Audio stereo (black series drivers and kx amps) fed by an audison bit.one and an ipad. It was awesome, but unfortunately RCSB doesn't give you much in the way of ability to transport your sales clients, so I moved to a tahoe now. Good luck on that build, I'm trying to find the drive to build a great stereo/multimedia setup again.
