front cig lighter next to ash tray

anyone know how to remove it and install a new one w/out breaking something? I just bought 2 of 'em off atomic

What? replace the cig lighters? Sure, just kill the power to them first (pull fuse, check power), then put your thumb in it. and turn it to the left. It should unscrew. Try looking at your new ones to confirm (some lighter sockets attach differently). It should be relatively simple though. Post pics if you can.

k thanks chip i'll try that. I can't find the fuse for the cig lighters though...

They're under the hood. The back panel of the fuse box cover has the listings. Let me know if you can't find it. I'll go take a pic. Pretty easy to find once you're there though.

Finally got 'em in!:party33: Effin pain in the ass! I found out that all cig lighters are the same except for the one that i needed to change. There was a groove on the others that wasn't on the replacement one i had. So i had to file it down and finally got it working. I'll post pics in a bit. Thanks for the help chip! O and p.s. they don't turn, they have clips and have to pop in so i had to just pry the old ones out and then pop the new one in...

The part i had to file down, i forgot to take a pic of it filed down...doh! See how the grooves are on opposite sides...you can see it on the right hands side of the pic by the prongs if you look close. the black one is the new one

Story of my life! LOL! Glad to see you got it all finished up. Thanks for the details. I'm thinking the Vitamin water had something to do with the Win. ;)
