Sorry to post this again, because its been asked a 100 times, but I've been researching sites and just can't figure out what the heck I need for fluid in my front differential.

I am nearing 100K miles and want to change all fluids, brakes, filters, etc.

2007 4x4 Tahoe Z71 package. 5.8L

My manual says to use 80W-90 and gives me the GM part #. I get that, but that part doesn't seem to exist or I guess I have to get it at the dealer. Rather not do that.

What I'm asking is there a product that you have used that is equal and would work?? If so, could you please provide me with a link or at least a product name. All this friction modifier, GL4/5, etc is just confusing me.

Looking to buy all the stuff beforehand. I can't imagine there isn't another equal product out there.

Thanks for any help.

Any good parts store, I use NAPA, will have a cross reference for what your manual says is needed. Done it many times.

GM had a bulletin out to use 75w90 hypoid synthetic fluid ,i have been using 75w90 for 10yrs. now and no problems , also used it in my 1976 Chev 1/2 ton 2wd. 454cu.in. no modifiers in it as it is an open diff. GM recommends synthetic in there diffs for many years now.

Just go to your local parts store and pick up some good quality synthetic 80w-90 or 75w-90 gear oil. Very simple. I think you're over thinking this.
