Front differential

I have an 02 Yukon Denali awd. My front diff took a shit and I ordered one but it’s a 4x4 with an actuator and not the AWD. Can I just swap the cone and everything in the cone from mine over to the new one?

Your post is either unclear or doesn't make sense. As far as I know, a differential does not have an actuator. It is the Transfer case that would have the actuator. On an all wheel drive vehicle, you don't need the actuator, because it is always in four-wheel-high. If you are talking about transfer cases, I don't know enough to say, but I'd say a 4WD transfer case would not work out well for your AWD Yukon.

The diffs for Auto transfer cases have an actuator on them for the Auto setting to toggle the front diff in/out of the drive.

Others have verified the actuator for the front diff but I would give you a heads up:

I realize yours is awd so this prob won't apply...but...if someone finds the system going into 4HI all by itself there are some culprits.

One culprit: My 2001 took a lot of investigating to learn that simply taping the harness connection on the front actuator prevents water from seeping in and randomly putting me in 4wd. Its a bad seal on my truck.

yeah on these GM front diffs there is an actuator. My problem is that mine doesn’t have this because my truck is AWD but I messed up and ordered one that has it. I’ve done a bit of research and like the other people posted I should be good and have my truck rolling soon.

He’s basically gonna swap cases steve, when done he’ll have a new diff, old case with no actuator.
