I have a 2008 Tahoe with Z120BT, no bose, no onstar. I seem to lose my front driver door speaker all the time. Front driver tweeter remains on all the time though. The speaker will go out for days then I can be sitting at a traffic light and the speaker will fade in and everything will sound normal.

Has anyone had this type of problem with their Avic? I find it hard to believe that if could be a wiring problem being that it will come back sitting still in traffic and also fade in?

Hard to say but it might be your RCA's.

Have you taken the door panel off and checked the conection to the speaker?

Factory speakers? If so, they are craptastic. 3 of the 4 in my doors were out. I pulled mine Sunday and replaced with RF R165 Prime 6.5" speakers.

When i took out the OEMs they were easily punctured on touch, the magnet was tiny, and overall construction I'd rate a 2 out of 10. I did reuse the plastic outer part of the speaker as a mount for the new ones.

Easily ripped the speaker cone out, then dremmeled off the connecting spokes on the back side, dremmeled 4 notches for the tabs on the new speakers, dropped in the RFs, drilled 4 holes for the screws and plopped the old exterior with new speakers attached into the doors.

Took me 3 hours to do all 4 doors in the blazing heat taking my time. Hardest part is getting the door panel off. There is a short video on youtube that shows removal of chevy truck/suv door pannels. The dremmel with a cutoff wheel made short work of the mounts. Maybe 5 minutes per old speaker to transform it. Few minutes for the rewire. If you look at the connector on the wires, there is a little A and B. A is - and B is +

If you have aftermarket speakers, no clue.

Factory speakers. It weird that it works some times and not others. Especially with the front tweeter always working. Like I said if it kicks in while the system is running it fades in.

If you google your problem, it seems to be common with the factory speakers. I got mine from amazon for like 30 a pair.
