On the return leg of my recent 3400 mile road trip and occasionally driving the Yukon locally, I have noticed the steering wheel isn't centered driving in a straight line...and there is a slight pull to the right.

We drove up to West Palm Beach and back yesterday and I noticed it on the way up...but not on the way back. We went out last night and locally it now seems perfect. I checked tire pressure with a dial type analog gage with 1/2 PSI increments...all 4: are spot on at 36 PSI.

In the old days before electric assist steering the alignment was either right or it wasn't. I would think that holds true with these new electric assist rigs but I'm not sure. Have any of you experienced anything like what I have described and if so what did you determine the issue was? This one has me puzzled...

Thanks,

John

Some times the pitch of the road can affect the steering wheel. I had alignments done to 3 of my 15 plus Tahoe/suburban. I did not like the way they turned out. The wheel always seemed slightly pitched to the left.
I finally set the wheel straight to my desire. Ensured straight by a level( I know) Then I marked it with tape. Cut hole across the tape and had them match up my version of straight. Never a problem since.

As Blueinterceptor stated, roads are not perfect. Your drive home it was fine, so that tells you different directions can and will be different. JMHO and good luck.

UPDATE...had the alignment checked and found that the "Toe-In Toe Out" settings were out of spec -7* on the right side and -3* on the left. Caster and Camber were good...had th e TI/TO adjusted and all is fine.

While the Yukon was on the rack I checked tire wear with a tread depth gage and found all 4 tires were wearing evenly...14/32 remaining on all 4 at 16K miles. I run 36~37 PSI and rotate every 5K.
