i have a 2001 z71 tahoe that has the g80 code on the dash (locking rear diff) i was wondering how good those are, and if i also had a locker in the front. im pretty sure i dont and i am wondering how much traction they would give me. this is our errand vehicle/ppl hauler and i am needing it to be freiendly on road.
we usually only offroad at the beach so not big time mudding. i also am thinking of putting a 6" lift with 35" tires. would all the stock components stay reliable or will i start breaking parts quicker? and how will my gas mileage be effected. i am peaking at 15mpg now.

If i remember correctly we cant get a locker in the front end of our trucks. As far as mileage with a lift and big tires like that if you are getting 15 now 8-10 after wouldnt be out of the question...

A 6" lift will keep your angles at stock but will still put stress on your truck. Your modding the truck it will add stress to components. Most likely they will fail faster. Just replace with better stronger lifetime warranty moog parts :).

If your peaking at 15mpg at stock height with stock wheels and tires you might want to tune your truck. Maybe get a cai and exhaust will help a bit. Your truck seems like it's sucking some gas for a stock ride.

our front transfer cases are pretty weak...I would do a bit of research before putting a locker in it.

For my OBS, it's highly frowned upon putting a locker in my NP246 b/c it WILL be damaged....yours might be different, but a NP246 is not designed to handle it.

I put a three inch lift and 34s on my 03 hemi ram and my mileage went from 17 to 14.7 overnight. (combined)... Price you pay I guess.
