Well, first post! I'm originally from the Newport/Morehead/Atlantic beach area of NC, I was stationed at Ft Hood TX and am currently serving at Ft Carson CO. I have been an Apache mechanic for going on 8 years now and I love it.
My ride: Black 2003 Tahoe Z71, grey leather, rear entertainment, barn doors and bone stock other than the gauge mod. I'm pushing 185,000 miles and the 5.3 flex runs like a champ.
My reverse recently started slipping BADLY, so the Monster-Trans rebuild is the fix for me. It will be my first auto tranny rebuild, but it's gotta be easier than a manual.
My t-case has a hard time shifting (I used to keep it in auto, but that was no bueno, so now I keep it in 2wd) so I'd like to find an easy bolt in.
My hubs are roaring and will be replaced with Timken TMK-SP500300.
My springs are sagging and the shocks should probably be replaced soon, so I'm going with Bilstein 5100's. I would like to replace the springs with some that will level the front and give me about an inch in the rear, but I am having poor luck finding anything.
My future mods: Well, the wife and I do a lot af camping and overlanding, so tons of lift and huge tires are a waste, but we do take to the dirt every weekend. My tires will end up being 285/75/R16 BFG/MT's wrapped around some Cragar steelies. CAI and exhaust are a must. I would like to mount an 8,000 lb winch behind the stock bumper, but that's another post I guess. The only other mod I can think of is a nice dual band short wave radio, but with barn doors, finding a spot for the antenna is a pain.
Well, that's it in a nut shell. I hope to hear from y'all, especially my fellow hams.
