FUBAR'd the chrome on my front bumper... Help please?

I don't wanna get into too many details, but the chrome part of my '00 Tahoe LT is FUBAR'd. I've read DIYs on removing the bumper and I know I can take it off, but my question is: is it possible to replace just the chrome part and keep the original painted section above the chrome? It is undamaged, paint is expensive, and that would keep it semi-OEM.

You can also use LMCTruck.

Yes, you can reuse the plastics.

Yep! Replacing it isn't that difficult either. I just did on my Yukon. Reused all the plastics. Keep an eye on craigslist, we have a Tahoe bumper here for $50 and it is in great shape.
