I just installed a new GM fuel pump in my 99 Yukon. Everything works great except when the fuel gauge is on empty there is about 8 gallons of gas left. The gauge appears to be working fine. Any suggestions?

With the connector unplugged the needle reads way below empty. Does it need to be recalibrated after installing a new fuel pump? If so how is it done?

unknown at this time.
no. can you post a pic of where it stands with the known gallons in the tank please like when you said it had 8 gallons left? the gauge is not to scale so to speak so what you get from before and after the test may just be the sender doing what it was supposed to be doing.
