Fuel Gauge

Does anyone know if the gauge will drop faster if you have a small tank vs a big tank meaning is the motor in the gauges set up different cause mine has a 30 gallon tank but it seems like wen the thing is on empty i never get close to 30 on a fill up

On my 2 door, i ran it down to almost under the Red 'E' for when i did my fuel pump, when i dropped it, it had 2-3 Gals in it! But i don't trust my gauge, since it vibrates like a happy toy even after i swapped the WHOLE unit.
