Hey all, i finally decided to make an account. i bought my 05 tahoe in February of this year. just recently i found that my fuel pump unit was rusting out and causing a fuel leak at the lines. so i replaced the whole unit and i am now having troubles with the fuel level.. i replaced the unit with a bosch oem replacement which now seems to have not been the greatest decision. it seems that the fuel level hanger is getting stuck. i fueled up all the way and once i get to a little above half of a tank the hanger seems to get stuck. i was actually able to beat on the gas tank to get the hanger to drop down after putting some miles on the truck to drop the fuel level some more. i guess my question here is... has anyone had this problem? is there something i can do to fix this other than ordering a new ac delco unit?

I have the same exact thing going on. I have a 33 gallon tank and I can only put 15 gallons of gas in and the fuel will read full, which I know its not, then I drive a lil, then fuel gauge corrects itself and goes to half.... I just learned to deal with it :/ it sucks

I wonder if you got the correct sending unit for the tank you have.

They have left side tanks and rear tanks. The capacities vary also. 26 gallon, 32.5 gallon and 38.5 gallon.

Call the local Chevy dealer and ask for the parts dept. Gove them the last 8 digits of your VIN# and ask them for the cost of the fuel pump assembly. Then ask for the part #. Use this to see if you have the right sending unit installed.

Hey just wanted to update this saying i did find out the problem and got it fixed. turned out the fuel level sensor was simply bad. i had ordered a new sensor and it came with a long and short sensor. so i thought hey maybe the wrong one was on the fuel sending unit, but turned out that mine was just bad. for reference my truck, 05 tahoe 5.3 z71 uses the "longer level" and its almost impossible to install the wrong sensor because the shorter level actually will face the opposite way. hope this helps if anyone has this problem!
