Alright. So I have had my 2000 Tahoe since June 29th of this year. It was a birthday present from my family for my 18th birthday. Anyway, the fuel pump was going out, and I have ordered one already (should be here by Thursday). I noticed today that my oil pressure rises whenever I give it gas. It idles/cruises at 45 (is that measured in PSI???), and when I give it gas, it raises past 60. I do not think it did this a few days ago. I also noticed yesterday that the fuel pump is making a terrifying clicking noise, and that is also when I noticed the oil pressure rising. I am just wanting to understand why the pressure is rising. Oh, and I only was going 40mph on flatland (IDK if that helps with anything). Please let me know, because I need to drive it to my uncle's house in order for him to replace the pumps (he is a professional Chevy mechanic), and he is in Corona (I am in Costa Mesa). Do you guys think the hoe will make it that far?

oil pressure should rise when you step on the gas and your idle pressure is normal. The oil pump is crank driven and as you spin it faster it should pump more oil, I would be more concerned with too low of oil pressure at idle, either way an oil pump is a relatively easy swap but yours sounds normal.

Thanks for the help. And it is a fuel pump I am replacing, not an oil pump. It has already gone through the "squeaking" phase, and has moved on to the "tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic..." noise. Do you think it will be able to drive me to work and back for 3 days, then a 35 mile drive to Corona? My work is 5.5 miles away, so in total, I would say I have ~70 miles to go. Do you think it will make it to my uncle?
