hey all, i noticed today that when i hit the brakes to stop (usually only when its a harder stop) at about a quarter tank the gauge goes to zero and the gas light comes on. was wondering if its the pump on the way out or the sending unit. headed on a road trip tonight and dont wanna go if its the pump... any help would be much appreciated!! thanks

I know that anytime you're on an incline that stupid gauge goes wacky. Not sure about just hitting the brakes though. I've always just kept an eye on my odometer. I trust that over the fuel gauge.

The fuel quantity gauge won't have anything to do with whether the pump is working or not. The gauge works off of a float in the tank. If the pump ***** the bed, you won't be able to start the truck.
