The fuel pump quit on my 2000 GMC Yukon Denali. Had mechanic tow it in and replace fuel pump. Picked it up and "service engine soon" indicator was on. The code I pulled was P0440. Cleared it and all was well for several days, until I filled it with gas and have the code again. Were should I start looking for the cause? Also I smell gas at times outside the car. but never see and leakeage any were. Hate to take it back to mechanic, because he is my wifes uncle. Just me I guess. I want to make sure that its done right this time. Thanks for your time and help.

Maybe your Mech broke it and didn't want to tell you because he knows how much it's going to cost him to fix it right.
