I have it on mine and it is 9 years old. If it gets totaled by a non insured driver, if I have minimum then I will have to take a loss and come out of pocket to replace.

I also have great State Farm rates.

All my policies are with SF and for full coverage with unlimited rental coverage I pay 520 a year for the 04 Tahoe. Same coverage on wife's 2011 element is 630 a year. For me it's a no brainer. I just got the bills for 2014 last week. I pay once a year. And never worry.

Just wondering my brother in law had a fender bender on his 99 expedition and they won't fix it because they say it'll cost more than the truck is worth. So they were only gonna give him close to nothing. I'm paying about 1800 a year. I'm in New York so the rates are high. I'm paying close to 4k a year on three car's only the tahoe has the full coverage because I use it the most. Just doesn't seem worth paying the money. If they won't pay to fix the damage. Brother in laws damage was bumper, fender, grill, and headlight. No damage to anything else.

Most ins companies consider it totaled when the damage is 50% of value so if his car is high miles low package or base model and only worth say 3k. Then if the work is 1500 I can see them totaling it. So he was at fault I assume?

I rock liability. If it gets wrecked and take. A loss ill just get another shell or frame or whatever it needs fairly cheap and keep on trucking

I forgot about mods and receipts.

When I had accident 2 years ago. The ins gauked when they found out they had to order a $135 transmission cooler. The adjuster selected the "tow package" factory cooler lol a $25 cooler. But failed to realize the 18x24 cooler was my trans cooler he assumed it was the AC condenser. Receipts. Boom. And new Airraide. Bc the cracked the box.

But yes modded cars is worth it,

But if you drive a $300 Geo metro as a dd just to get 45mpg in town. Then I would have liability only and say sell for scrap when in a wreck.

You must look at what your car is worth INNTHE eyes if the ins company, worth to you, and mods. And if you are willing to eat the loss out of pocket if it is totaled. And if these costs are less than that of the rate increase then make your decision.

You can also shop around. State Farm does a very good job bundling my cars, house, camper, boat, and assorted rider policies together to get me great reduced rates on all of them. May be worth a phone call and a bit of your time.

Full coverage here! I also carry higher coverage then normal, with add-ons and Extra coverage for my aftermarket equipment and accessories. I have near everything of value that I've added to/on my vehicle insured and known by my Ins. Co., which increases my Tahoes value as far there concerned. That helps cause they consider prices of upgrades and what I have Extra insured when it comes to a claim. I pay extra for it all, but also know I'm not gonna get screwed if stolen, damaged, crashed, hit by uninsured/underinsured ect...

This really helped last year when we got slammed in front end. Over 7k in damage, but still got fixed. But would have been totalled if not for insuring aftermarket parts.

Most Insurance Co. will only fix up to a certain percentage amount of total value. 60%(for Geico I believe) and may be lower or higher depending on your Insurance company. They usually won't fix a vehicle if it costs almost as much as at would be to replace. Why it seems like they total out quick sometimes, even tho damage may not be that bad.
