I’m just scared of air shocks, but z71 and 6.2L would make me possibly forget about that for a bit.

i have a feeling that z71 has full air suspension, not just air shocks... meaning no coil springs, just air bags. A system much like the ram 1500 has offered for quite some time.

More maintenance for sure but gives 4 inches of suspension lift. The regular Suburban hunkers down on the highway for improved MPG. The Z71 Tahoe can drop 2 inches or go up 2 inches, 4 inches of travel. They drove it onto the stage in a lifted state at the reveal.

No diesel in the Z71 makes no sense to me, plus the front of Z71 is really fugly. The air ride really interests me.

Check the end of this video for a schematic of the drive line in motion. It shows what the air bags/shocks look like. The Z71 can change its height by 4 inches they said at the reveal.

Pretty cool. I think this same IRS system will eventually make its way to the next gen Silverado/Sierra 1500. GM seems to have put a lot of R&D into it.

The more I see it, the more I like it!

It’s really not that bad though that particular model looks a lot like the traverse to me. the interior is much more evolutionary than revolutionary. Kind of shrug/meh inducing after such a long wait. Really not diggin the square instrument panel/dash hump and that Chrysler wing on the lift gate absolutely need to come off.

Maybe we’ll see a bigger step forward on the escalade interiors. Based on the ‘spy’ photos that seems to be the case.
