Morning,
New to Forum.
Just bought a 99 Tahoe with 188K, 2nd owner. 1st owner drove it but that's about all. Had a recent snow storm and got my plow stuck (Ford). Pulled it with the Tahoe and while in 4x4 when pulling the front end would pop. Not sure if it's coming from the xfer case or drive train. Then was driving on interstate and had sections of covered road and put it in Auto and it would pop again, though not all the time, during load condition and maybe every 10 to 20 seconds.
Besides fluid, what else should I check.
Thanks for your help.

unknown at this time.
tire diameter and gear ratios match to start. a skipping gear tooth would be rare. and when you check the fluids note condition and color of each axle and tcase.

Fluids are good in both axles, and tcase. Tech that checked fluids said they looked good???? Things to troubleshoot??

Maybe theres a couple broken teeth and cause it to skip a lil then catch again causing noise

That may be better than a rebuilt transfer case. Have to wait for Momma to get home and she can drive while I listen and watch.
