I put in a new JVC head unit in my new to me 05 Yukon. When the head unit is on volume level 1, it's still loud. The head unit does have a volume adjustment and they're are all the way down too. I'm assuming it's louder since the the line level output is a higher wattage than the OEM unit.

From what I've read, the bose speakers are 2 ohm. Maybe I should just replace them now with 4 ohm to increase the resistance. And of course get better sound than factory speakers.

Thanks

if you did not use a adapter and you are running high level input into the amp then yes it will be loud and likely distorted

I'm assuming you mean a Crux CS-GMC2 Wiring Interface. Of course. The Bose amp doesn't take pre-amp input

of course it does and there are a variety of makers and adapters not just "crux" but since you mentioned the gmc2...

"audio level adapter" means it reduces the level to pre-amp level, so it works like it should

I wonder if there's a way to bypass the Bose amplifier and use the head unit amplifier handle the normal speakers, and just leave the Bose amplifier power the sub? That would probably make the most sense to me. Or is that what that adapter does?

When I deleted my console (Bose amplifier and sub also) I "jumped" the in-line to line level wires based on the wiring diagram because I was using an aftermarket stereo with built-in amp, but that was a PIA.

It was my father's Yukon and he took it to a shop to have the radio replaced. They quoted him $1300. He was like screw that I'll just keep using a Bluetooth speaker. He was told it was the amp. He gave it to me a couple weeks ago. I ordered an amp on eBay but the dude never shipped so I was like let's see what it takes to bypass the amp. I'd rather not cut wires and I couldn't find a bypass harness for these years. I was a car audio geek in the 90s so I know my way around around a system, but things get more complicated with these cars. I figured I could just use my own amp but I really didn't want to run wires.

Thankfully it wasn't the amp. It was just the head unit. I found an open box JVC for $37 on best buy.
