Adding to the many mileage posts. Full tank just topped off. A whopping 276 miles. I still haven’t gotten the transmission serviced and I’m thinking my likely failing torque converter is contributing. Still, she drinks what she drinks and so far I love her. (Will love her more when I finally pull the trigger on a supercharger. Then I’ll hate her while I shop for a new motor and trans. Then I’ll love her again until I do something else stupid. Like doing the SierraKon conversion. lol.)
So reading your post and looking at your pic, are you going by the "Fuel Range" the DIC is showing you after you fueled up? If so, that's just a guestimate the vehicle gives for the current driving conditions.

Or did you actually keep track of the mileage from one fill up to the next and do the maths?

Mostly in town and short trips. 20-25 mph average max. I’ve yet to find e85 here (Tallahassee Fl. Probably here somewhere but I haven’t looked specifically for a station that carries it.) And I alternate 93 and 87. Running 93 right now. Just done replacing a lock and a window mech. Which has no bearing on this conversation, just sharing. lol. To be clear I still love this truck, was just lamenting relatively old school v8 problems. lol.
20-25 mph is 86% to 100% city driving. While our older trucks don't get the greatest gas mileage compared with new, we don't have new car $1300 a month car payments either.

I did a quick math formula and mine has averaged 13.2 mpg with 86% to 100% city driving over the last seven years.

just out of curiosity, I think I've seen the math years ago. but what difference in mph would one need to see for say 1$ more 93 break even vrs 87? years ago it is a 10 cent extra per step, now I see 1$ or more.
