so is this common? i now have no idea how much gas i have unless i straight up calculate is as i gas up. and that ***** getting old quick. so i heard its just the float in the fuel pump. thing is...my fuel pump works just fine....sending unit and all. not really feeling spending the money on a new until it goes out. any insight on this fellas???

Yes it is common. The dampening oil in the gauge has leaked out or dried up. Replace with new oil or replace the gauge.

hmm...both are good suggestions. thanks fellas. when i get a moment i'll do that. now as far as the dampening oil....how is that checked, and where can purchase some?
