Hey Guys, I have a question regarding gas tanks, searched but didn't really find what I was looking for. I have a 2002 Yukon Denali 6.0 152k miles that is mainly used for pulling a boat or camper. It does great pulling either, but all in all I have to stop alot for gas. (yeah, first world problems etc)
Typically I get around 12 mpg combine empty and so far with the boat around 10mpg. Have a 10 hour camper pulling trip coming in the spring. Just seeing if a suburban or Yukon XL gas tank will fit the regular yukon.

I don't know if it is there in the 2002 ECU, but later truck ECUs have the provision for a saddle tank like the 2500 Suburbans have. Now, I believe that to be an 11 gallon tank, but some folks will insist it is a 6 gallon tank. Regardless, you can run a tank back there -- assuming you have the provisions -- and would give you 40 to 100 miles extra range (the tank keeps a reserve of a gallon or so). Anyway, it is a consideration. Good luck! The 6.0 is great at passing everything except gas stations... I know because I have 3 of them.

That's the computer that controls the main functions of your Yukon. Maybe it's ECM? Sorry if I got that wrong.

Came to say the same thing. I think I learned from this website that the suburban 2500s Had the option for that 2nd tank but you have to ditch the spare tire if I’m not mistaken. There’s a thread somewhere

You do not have to ditch the spare tire -- on the Suburban/Yukon XL 2500s. The spare tire is actually hung from the tank.

Thanks for the info and old thread to reference, since I want to keep my spare, I will just keep stopping every 200 miles. I guess its goes along with my New Years goal to "slow down and enjoy the little things"
