in our 22 Ram and 23 Tahoe, we get in our vehicle at it works...don't have to pair it up every time and no plugging in it...and definitely no waiting a min or two for it to work/startup. Maybe others have all sorts of issues....

not like GM is going to read these forums and "change their mind"

ha I agree they were stupid examples, but I think the overall point was that it may make sense in some ways

They are not removing it completely. GM is still going to have CarPlay and Android Auto but it won’t be the main system.

ahh, just the little tiny tip of the iceberg of what is to come, you should all do your research, soon enough to won't even own one everything will be subscription only including the use of the vehicle. GM has big plans for your future.

"creative control" = more ways to create an additional revenue stream even after the vehicle is sold

you'll lose the ability to have "free" navigation that interfaces with the vehicle when carplay and android auto are phased out.

I'd fully expect whatever platform they utilize to offer "<insert name> maps/navigation" and for it to be subscription based i guess the way the current infotainment is set up. Don't think we've even really accessed the google mess on our 23 tahoe since we aren't paying a monthly fee and didn't buy a GMC that was marked up for those costs.
Naw. That's not it at all. But i know there's a group here that thinks everyone is out to get them. Gotta be exhausting.

Meh, I never use my '23 Suburban's infotainment screens anyway (except to program car settings), rather I simply enjoy the drive and being disconnected when outside the house :thumbsup:
that's a great point

SUURE! You'll be fine if you're one of the following..

1. ONLY the following governmental agencies qualify for this disable/enable calibration request:
• City / State Government
• Police / Sheriff Departments
• FBI
• CIA
• DEA
• Emergency Vehicles – if government owned

2. All requests are to be made through the Techline Customer Support Center (TCSC) at 1-800-828-6860 English or 1-800-503-3222 French.

3. The dealership will be required to obtain a letter on official agency letterhead requesting the disable/enable. The letter should include the following: – Acknowledgement that the agency owns the vehicle. – The reason for the disable/enable. – Which features are to be disabled/enabled. – Specific VIN(s) of the vehicle(s) that features will be disabled/enabled. – The following statement: “The [insert feature(s) which has/have been requested for disable/enable] system will be made fully operational prior to sale of the vehicle(s) listed above.”

4. The letter must be kept in the service history file at the dealership, and a copy sent to TCSC before the disable/enable procedures/calibrations will be released. In most cases, the vehicle(s) will require a software change, using a VCI number provided by TCSC.

NOTE: The preceding is *NOT* for apple carplay, but BCM calibrations to disable auto doorlocks, auto headlights, auto-bs etc..

ha - i'll bite.

where in the priority list would the reasons below rank when GM is considering removing the compatibility with a service that GM receives no revenue off the end consumer using?

A - Creating a better user experience
B - Potential for increased subscription revenue
C - Increasing personal data obtained from the consumer
D - add in whatever else you want

We live in a world where a "better user experience" will never be #1...especially from a car manufacturer.

Maybe there are those on here that think GM is "out to get them"...I like that...out to get them like they're being held hostage and being forced to buy something...but with that said, Yukon owners ARE being forced to pay for an option....

nah - the real question - since you own a 23 Yukon, what "if" when you bought it the MSRP was $1k-1500 less (not sure what trim you have).... And then while you were signing papers the finance guy offered up the option to prepay for Onstar/wifi for 3yrs at a cost of $1500. Would you have agreed to pay $1500 more?

If yes, my opinion is that would be the mindset of the minority. Most don't want to pay for something that they many won't realize any value in...

If no...well - see above

Same here. My 23 suburban has that google hot mess. We avoid it at all costs. I never give Onstar my info when we have the welcome call. Really ****** them off. I use Carplay as my main hub. This ay be an issue for me moving forward. As we are looking to trade in our 21 Yukon in summer/fall 2024.
