On another note:
Since the factory filler panel only had the one busted tab and I had nothing to lose so I drilled a clearance hole for a long tree retainer and installed it again. The retainer fits nicely in the slot for the clip and it looks ok. At least $70.00 ok so I am sending the Dorman one back for a refund. 7E4BEA2F-DB6B-4BB8-A713-E7D5151BF4BF.jpegA4E7AF05-2E5E-463E-A1F9-A284A344ABE7.jpeg

So the tab on the underside that holds that metal clip on is broke?
Yes, it broke and I removed it a while ago. I had tossed it out and drilled a hole for a zip tie to secure it to the dash which was also broken. When I decided to go forward with replacing the dash I decided to just replace the filler panel too but I found a way to make it work with the little tree retainer. And save $70.00

Numbers as requested-

Disregard the steps in the lighting, it's from my LED worklight:

Facing center stack from LH side. I've never seen the underside of my original dash, but I believe this grid pattern is part of the updated design:

I may be worrying needlessly but, other than the part number difference the new and old dashes from my truck seem identical in every way.

Oh well; it’s installed now…
