Man this is getting expensive!!! Got the new remote start and after market stereo installed last week and got all the little bugs worked out. Now it is in for a tune up. The mechanic let me buy all the parts from O'Reilleys since I can get them cheaper with my military discount. I went with AC Delco plugs, rotor and cap, but went cheap with the plug wires. $24.99 but they have a lifetime warranty unlike the AC Delco wires that only have a 1 yr warranty. Since I just got the Yukon, I dont know what kind of oil the previous owner used so I am going to make the jump to synthetic. I bought the Mobile 1 5W30. The mechanic is servicing the tranny, both differentials, transfer case and radiator along with doing the oil change, changing plugs, wires, rotor and cap, and also changing out the door pins and bushings for me.

I wish I would have had the time to do it all myself, but dang, I have a lot to do before we leave on Tuesday! I hope I'm not missing anything on the Yukon.

Lol, I was laughing at my cousin who lives in fairbanks....he was bitching about trying for two hours to get into his car because ice had frozen up the lock cylinders and he couldn't unlock the car, and once he did.....he had to work a hair dryer down the seams to be able to open the door.

I say F-that! Wait till summer.

Sounds like you have everything covered! Oh, dont forget wiper fluid that has a lower freezing temp, otherwise you will have a solid block of blue water in there. lol. Stay safe and have fun!

Sounds like you have it under control on the Yukon, but let me recommend one of these for your emergency road kit:

Get some tire chains, there's some steep grades in northern BC and the Yukon that may not see a plow for a while if it's snowing. That road is in about the same shape as most backroads in the lower 48.

I'll be two months behind ya!:)

Unfortunatley Canada is a few steps ahead of America in that no one can carry sidearms, permit or not.

You can carry rifles and shotguns, just have to register them for $25US a gun.

Kind of a crappy deal but what can you do eh?

I would argue that they are several hundred feet BEHIND America in that regard. And i thought that he was going to Alaska where a permit is NOT required to carry a sidearm.

I think he was joking. And if you are driving to Alaska, you have to go through Canada
