Bought the GM Major Guard today paid $950+tax for a $0 deductible 6yr 48k mi. covers the truck after the bumper to bumper runs out seems pretty good(meaning 3 years after, not another 6yrs). Plus it can be transfered to a new owner for $50 and you can get a partial refund if you trade the truck in early. Trip protection over 100mi away you get up to $150 a day for food and hotel for 5 days plus every time your truck is in for warranty service you get a loaner or rental free..

Anyone else buy one of these? Loking for any experiences to see what i'm in far when it's time to use it lol.

btw dealer told me it would of been $1200+ but gave it to me for employee price of $950.

I bought the GMPP for 6/48 for $860 in Oct '06. Had to negotiate it down to that as they started at $1200.

Becareful on what you buy from the dealer. Some don't sell the GM plan but rather a 3rd party plan. I have extended warranties for all 3 of my GM vehicles, all 3 different companies. GM went with only 5 years for the powertrain warranty starting in 2009 or 2010 I think. Still 100k though.

I found them to be real good on all the cars I have owned over the years. It is rolling the dice though. You are betting that your car will break enough to get your money back and maybe save money while they are betting that your car will not break.

As far as I know GM doesn't back anything up after the OEM warranty. It is all 3rd party. The GMPP is actually ran by GMAC which is owned by Celebrus which owned part of Chrysler (they may still do). There are some grey areas where they can deny your warranty if they wish. Overheating is not covered on a lot of them. Read the contract very carefully before you buy the warranty. Look at how they pay for the claim (IE Do you pay first and submit the claim, do you have to get approval first). Some even limit repairs to the selling dealer which is useless if you travel.

Actually they went to the 5/100K in early 2007 cuz I got a $100 refund on my GMPP plan when they made the change. No payment is involved as it is just treated like the OEM warranty unless you have a deductible.

You can see the dealers do make a nice profit on GMPP. Assuming you're under 12k miles and 12 months owned, there's a GM dealer that offers deep discounts on GMPP over the internet - the 6/48 $0 deductible is priced at $800 with no sales tax.

no kidding. My extended warranty runs out in Feb, and I only have 87,000 miles, who DOES make a good extended warranty?
