Setting the ALC won't change the softness or stiffness of your ride. It will simply tell the truck's control system how much the truck has deviated from the benchmark positions on all 4 wheels at any given time while driving. Also, the truck will auto level itself with the rear air shocks, whenever a load is put in it, which moves the rear sensors from their benchmark positions. So you have to do a reset manually to store readings? That suggests that to soften the ride you do the reset with a load so that at lower load levels it allows the vehicle to return to the baseline level more easily.
