I have a 2003 Tahoe 5.3L that has been riding very rough lately and I have a few thing suspect after joining today and reading several threads but would like some feedback from you guys.

I can't remember when but last time we bought tires I opted for the cheaper Dakota Definity A/T tires over my usual BFGoodwrench, and again after reading several threads I think this is my main problem. Well since buying the tires I've also replaced the shocks with OEM Original ride replacements from ACDelco with little to no ride improvement.

Is it worth replacing leaf springs or other components or wait to replace tires? Any other advice is most welcome.

Well, what do you mean with "rough" ? If the ride is very sluggish I would say change your shocks and also the coil springs. Or.. do you have the auto-ride option? (Z55) it could be there is some kind of defect?

As mentioned above the only thing I've done is change the shocks. Rough as in when going over tracks or bumps in the road it hit very hard, that's why I initially thought shocks.

BTW no Auto Ride.

Air pressure. How much air are you running in them and are they OE size? What air pressure does your door sticker say?

My truck rides like a Cadillac at 30psi (what the door sticker says to inflate them to) and am running BFG KO2s.

Ya I'm pretty sure it's not air pressure as I've played with this. But still leaning towards tire quality.

They might have been balanced poorly, a crash stop could have warped or broken a belt. A poor alignment can chew up the tread causing a rough ride too.

I don't take a good look at the ball joints. No leaf springs on a tahoe btw.
