Cold Case aluminum radiator leaking again - this was the one which I repaired and kept when Cold Case replaced it with the one that went in my now-sold 1500 Suburban. So... the threads in the Tahoe section have convinced me to go with a Denso or GM Genuine radiator this time. That said, I'd like to get the maximum amount of cooling possible and the Denso and OE GM radiators listed in RockAuto's catalog (Denso 221-9010) and the GM Genuine, which appears to be a Denso, have cores which are 1.06 inches thick. The popular choice for a Tahoe seems to be Denso's 221-9514, which has a 1.25" thick core. I also noticed a 221-9011, which has a 1.34" thick core.
Given these choices, I have three questions:
1) I'm assuming more thickness means more capacity means more cooling capability. Correct?
2) Does the Denso 221-9514 include internal engine oil and transmission oil coolers? Likewise for the 221-9011? RA does not say, though the slightly dark photos seem to indicate there are connections for water, engine oil, and transmission fluid. The GM specs lists both coolers in their radiator but I'd like to use a thicker core if possible.
3) Does anyone have experience with the 221-9011, or for that matter, the 221-9514 in a 2007-2014 Suburban pulling a camper at high altitudes?
Thickness is not an issue - I've got a 3" thick radiator in there now.
Much appreciation for the collective wisdom before I order one from RA. I'd really like to not have to send one back because it didn't have an internal engine oil cooler. All else fails, I'll go with the more expensive GM radiator as it's only $120 more, which is still $200 less than another leaky Cold Case.
