Meh, it's just a stock small block. No need for anything fancy.

as i mentioned in another thread i run straight 605 copper cores in the next week. i have been running a colder plug 104 for the last 13,000 miles. also on my third dizzy cap since the 104's went in. delco and msd cap have both burned out but the msd lasted 9 months i think and the delco 3-4 i think. both broke down internally on the same cylinder mainly but the brass msd was crusted inside pretty bad. delco had no time to get visually bad tho i was in indy and mich area for 7-8 months of the msd being on. after 10k miles on the 605's i will go back to platinum's with the xp605's for another part of my experiments. my 104 colder plugs are at a .068 gap roughly and still firing. tho i have a msd system installed.

fancy is dual plugs:think:. platinum's are standard equipment on the vortec.

Yeah but the new ACDelco plugs and those Autolite plugs are both iridium ;)

I've read good things about the Accel cap and rotor, so I'm going to give them a shot. They're only a few dollars more expensive than the parts store brand crap, and have brass contacts. Any brands of wires to stay away from?

msd are brass too. not delcos tho. i have not tried accel on these vehicle units. my experience with them mixed with a jacobs electronics ignition system which they are on now was that it would eat caps rotors and plugs on a vehicle i had once 6 years ago with a slant six installed. for wires stick with delcos (according to amazon it mentioned taylor heli wound in product description), msd, taylor. as for accel by all means give them i try and keep tracks of performance and stuff to further the research on this stuff. i do know anyone who has bought there ignition module for the tbi dizzys has never complained. in regards to the plugs dont bother wit things like multi electrode stuff. they hurt more then help.

Yeah I never bought into that whole multi electrode nonsense. And I avoid Bosch like the plague. I bought a set of platinum Bosch plugs for my 1990 Acura Legend when I was like 16... worst plugs ever. Ran like hell, and you could see the combustion byproducts had passed by the ceramic insulator, which indicated poor craftsmanship.

Inside my distributor cap:

Didn't solve the problem. However, it runs quite a bit better even with the dead cylinders. Next is testing fuel pressure. Also, I think it ran out of gas. The gauge said empty, but the gauge is wonky as hell when you turn the key to the run position so I figured it was broken. While idling, I noticed the fuel pump sounded sickly, and a couple seconds later, she killed. lmao

Right. Regardless, the next logical step in the path to getting this thing running correctly will be to check out that injection system. Aside from a leaky fuel regulator, what else can I check?

Did some more thinking this morning. If the injectors on 5 and 7 were leaking, wouldn't they eventually hydrolock the motor? Is it possible that my ECU/PCM could be faulty? How could I check that?
