Good performance tires that don’t wear a lot?

Just got my truck back with the 2.9l whipple installed. I still have my stock tires and they’re about to have to be replaced so I wanted to get some better tires that would hook better with all the new power I have. However the truck is my daily and gets a lot of miles and I don’t want tires that wear fast. Are there any good middle ground tires anyone can recommend?

I've made a few passes down the quarter mile with my new Michelin Defenders, didn't spin punching it from idle at the launch. My old KOs hooked a little better. Lots of trucks came with cheap Goodyear Wrangler AT/S tires and ran mid 14s at the drags with the 6.2 motors. Walmart has them on the shelf for about $122 a tire. If you are running anything larger than an 18" wheel, nothing is going to hook up well unless oversized.

Yea I have the stock rst 22 inch wheels. I think I’m going to go with the defender ltx 285/45

I did 30 years ago. They were excellent performance tires but they were not made to last forever, they were made to grip the road like the car was on rails! Sold many thousands of them to happy customers.

Thanks for the reply, how about the hankook ventus rh06? I’ve been reading people in the forum say they hook better than the toyos and they last a long time.

I used to sell Hanook tires but do not remember that one in particular. Back in the early to mid 1990s they were a less expensive alternative that provided good service, less than 40k miles usually and delivered good performance in the handling department. That was a long time ago. Funny, I was going to say things change but then again that is around the time the BFGoodrich Radial T/As came out with the same tread they use today and same for what was then the Michelin LTX that we call the Defender today. LOL

Performance tires are going to sacrifice longevity, better grip equals softer rubber, therefore you will not get high mileage out of a performance tire
my preference for a street tire is the goodyear eagle sport a/s, you wont get 60k out them but you will have fun along the way and the price is bearable.
I usually go thru a set every 2-3 years
on the other hand I drive like a maniac so you could get 60k out of them if you drive more like a sane person

they work very well for me, I do not have a supercharger (yet) but the only catch is they only make them up to a 20" so if you are running 22's then you will need something else, maybe some pirelli's? maybe @randeez has some input on tires
