Just getting around to doing the swap and can use some help. I got the top off grille off, but having some trouble getting the bottom one off. Probably the same principal, but definitely harder to get to. Has anyone done this that could offer some tips? Are there screws for the bottom part?

I have the other grille that I'm using as a reference and I don't see any places for screws...

Did you also remove the bolts in the lower left and right edges of the grille??

If so... Like I mentioned, there are 2 more bolts that hold on the front fascia (bumper) near the bolts you already removed on the top of the grille. Once those removed, you will be able to see behind the fascia, on the outside of the grille (the part of the bumper/fascia between the headlight and the grille can be pulled forward a little bit). You will then see the clips that have to be removed.

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, these clips are tricky, but if you are looking at your replacement grille, you will see what they look like, and how they "click" into place...

Does any of that make sense!??

Thanks for the message. I think the tahoe grilles are different that the yukons. I don't see any more bolts, and there aren't any similiar to the ones between the "lines" of the grill. I do get how the "clips" work, but just having trouble getting to them because it butted up so close to the fascia.

Maybe sticky this one? I was trying to swap out my grill a few minutes ago, and the thread plus the grillcraft link were lifesavers!

Scratch that about the lifesavers. I'm still working on it. The screws that are on either side of the grille down low, I'm not seeing them. I have the chrome package on my Yukon, so the grille is a little different. Anybody know if the removal is a little different for that?

Sorry - no experience with the Yukon grilles...they aren't the same install/removal as Tahoes.

It took me a few hours but it isnt too hard Just make sure that when you put the grills back in you put the bottom one back in first. I know it will seem easier with the top in first but the bowtie overlays the bottom one.

I've got a Yukon XL, so no bowtie. Still haven't figured out how to remove the lower grill on it. :( Help? I need to install my Denali style grill!

The bottom grill has the same kind of tabs as the upper...

Get under there and look inside, you will see them... The difference is that the black plastic surrounding the tow hook areas all comes out with the center part... It is not JUST the denali grille area... does that make sense??

Makes perfect sense Bauer. I've already got the piece I'm going to replace the stock one with, so I can see what it looks like. Guess I'm gonna be crawling under there tonight! Thanks a bunch, man.

Gents, I'm having the same problem trying to remove 2009 Yukon grille. Do I need to remove the front bumper? The Grillcraft info doesn't help all the way. its not detailed enough. Trying to get those darn retaining clips out. Been trying for hours.
