I have a 2002 Chevy Tahoe LT with the 5.3 v8. I took my tahoe to the dealership to find a ground problem. When I got it back i was driving down the road not even a block away and now my ABS and Brake light are on. When driving I get a loud grinding sound coming from my drivers side front wheel. I check to see if it was a wheel bearing going out and it was not. I took it back to the dealership and they told me my EBCM was bad and it was going to cost me $1000 for the part and $150 for labor. The code they claimed it was throwing was C0265 or motor relay circuit is what they wrote down. Im almost wondering if it is not the ABS control module and maybe something else. I checked the ground going from the ABS control module to the frame rail. I took it off grinded down the surface and put it back on and sprayed it with some undercoating. So its not a ground issue with the EBCM. I still dont know why there is the awful grinding noice coming from the wheel. Please someone help me with this issue. I am in need of some desperate help.

Before you buy an EBCM from the dealer, check out someone like absfixer or module master. Both places claim to repair your EBCM for about $150 or sell you a reman'd one for $300. This should resolve the issue with the ABS and Brake light constantly on.

As for the grinding noise, there are three initial areas to check: your front brakes, your rear brakes and the drum assembly for your parking brake. If none of those show odd wear, you'll definitely want to look for any signs of metal to metal contact any place your suspension cycles or near your wheels. Just a couple of things to help you along. Let us know what you find.

fixed

I found the problem with my tahoe. It was the wheel hub. The bearings inside where completely gone. after replacing it the abs and brake light went away. For only $165 i fixed the problem. The dealership tried to pull a fast one on my and charge $1200 bucks to fixed the abs module when all that was wrong was the hub bearing. Never take the advice of a dealership unless you know the person working there!!!!

a late reply but I feel like I have the same problem. Was the nosie constant? I have a 2008 ltz i feel is having the same issues. They replaced the front right hub but I told them the noise was from the front left. It sounds like metal to metal and has a chirping sound.

I couldn't get to the dealer fast enough when the ABS light came on. My wheel hub was shot but i didn't know it, so my wheel broke off in a turn. Now I have a large bill. That's life; at least there were no injuries.
