So I don't know if it would work or not but has anybody heard or tried to put an H2 rear end into your Tahoe? The stock one is just really weak and I want to upgrade it along with the transfer case too so is there any options for a stronger transfer case is well?

Eaton Detroit, nothing better out there, not cheap but it wont break again, if your pretty rough on it you'll wear out the bearings after a couple years but that's a easy fix.

If you browse PT.net, you will find that the NP246 (rpo NP8 autoTrak with 4-mode selection) is perfectly capable of transferring almost any amount of power that is put through it. Guys launch 4wd, built & supercharged motors on the stocker case behind the 4L80e. Trying to upgrade from any of the stock, v8 T-cases would be a waste of time & money. Even the AWD case that comes on a lot of the Denali & Escalde models go on to move 800+ HP in factory form, the same version albeit differently splined input gears, behind both the 4L60 & 80e.

The 4L60 transmission is probably going to be the weakest link on the 800-platform, far as survivability of abuse and transfer of power. I would bet the trans' (rpo M30) quits long before the rear diff, purely based on testimonials and threads found on the net as I stopped putting my vehicles through the ringer a long time ago.

The NP 243 does have 1 outstanding design flaw that is easily corrected with a cheap kit, all in regard to the factory oil pump design. The fix entails nothing more than splitting the case halves, removing a large clip, remove & replace the oil pump spacer, seal case halves and reverse the disassembly procedure. Inspect and replace the output bearings and oil seals while the case is on your bench.

^^^ I on the other hand broke 3 rear ends, finally stopped breaking when I put the Detroit in. I also went thru 3 transmissions as well, transfer case was replaced at almost 300k it took a good beating.

Nice that's good to know the rear end on mine is broken a few times already on me first one broke in the Drive-Thru of the Carl's Juniors LOL the ************* gov lock that came stock in it blew up on me then the second one eat the spider gears out of it so I guess I should go with the Detroit like you recommend in it will be good. As far as the transfer case goes I was just wondering if there was a stronger one because I had mine rebuilt paid out the ass to do that and it never worked right out the gate now it's been sitting for like 2 or 3 years and when I drive it it's making a lot of noise and I'm sure it's coming from the transfer case from the sound of it. But I did just find a Suburban a guy's parting out that only has 46,000 miles on it and I'm going to get the transfer case out of it the np246 for about 200 bucks he also said it has a newly rebuilt where in so I'm going to see what it has for internals and I might get that as well. What about the front differential. I heard they're pretty weak. My brother blew his up barely reversing over the teeny little dirt hump LOL

my front held out pretty good, it did eventually start to leak, when that happened I just grabbed a nice looking one out of a Cadillac at the junk yard and everything was still good when I sold it at 300k
