Ok this sounds stupid but hey who knows. I was wondering if I put folded up cardboard boxes in my rear tailgate to dampen the sound and rattling from my subs. I can't believe the price for the dynamat its insane. If anyone has attempted this or has any thoughts on it let me know. Thanks

No way on cardboard, get "no-name" brand dynamatt, its the same stuff, just cheaper.

Here is 10 Sq Ft 50 Mil FatMat Sound Deadener + Dynamat Roller for $20 Shipped

Here is: 25^ft eDead Xtreme Car Sound Deadener + Dynamat Roller for under $40 shipped

I would say about 40-50 sq ft for all the doors and then 15-20 sq ft to do back of cab wall and some floor around back. might as well get the extra and do it all, which would be 120 sq ft for it all.

I used this, $16 a roll that is 6" x 25ft. It's called quick roof, did some research on it and tried it, I only have my 4 doors and the rear gate done (took 4 rolls) but it made a huge difference! It may not be as good as some of the other brands but it's cheap and works for what I wanted it for.

Rammat BXT

Simply the best bang for your buck when it comes to mat on a budget.

You could fill it with marine foam or something more productive then the cardboard.

try second skin damplifier. same as dynamat extreme but less.

don;t buy asphalt products...
one they get hard (reduces dampening)
two they fall off and
3 they reek for weeks.

That includes original dynamat/accumat. make sure it has thick aluminum backing and not mylar. the idea is to add weight, dampener, & a rigid barrier/stiffener (aluminum) in a 3 prong attack.
note nothing about absorbing sound. that is what open cell eggcrate foam is for.

3: for rattles you need to go in the gate figure out what exactly is rattling. massloading the inner panel isn;t necessarily going to do anything if the rattle is elsewhere (wiring harness, actuator rods, etc.)
