99 yukon, got in tonight to go home from work. I crank the rig up and turned the lighs on. Everything seemed fine until i put her in drive. I literally moved 2 feet and all my dash/climate components go black. I automatically think its a fuse, so i go to the fuse box. The number 9 fuse is blown. I replace the fuse with another 20amp, and go to turn my parking lights on. Bam! fuse blows again, put another and again. Whats the problem here? Have had the truck for over a year and this has never happened. Anyone with advice the input is appreciated. This is my daily driver so this is vital. Thank you all very much

hmm haven't messed with the dimmer yet, but when i get to work today i'll grab a pack of fuses and go try. last night i just messed with the switch itself and no luck. i did just recently put in led markers, and turn sigs. put in an led flasher and it worked fine for the past two weeks. i've messed with the dimmer before, but its never knocked out practically all my lights but headlights and brake lights lol. hopefully its either in the switch or dimmer.

unknown at this time.
the theory is if it is a interior light circuit and the dimmer turned down it should take longer to blow or not at all indicating the section of wiring that has the problem. if it blew just as fast then the problem is the switch itself or the exterior lighting circuits.

You could start by unplugging bulbs I suppose and see if the short stops. That will narrow it down. Be prepared to go through a ton of fuses.

Ok got to work and grabbed a pack of 20amps and went to try it. Turned the dimmer switch all the way down and put a fuse in. When I turned the headlight switch it automatically popped the fuse. So I'm guessing it's the switch that needs replacing?

Feel kinda like a dummy now lol. Got a switch and installed it, put a fuse in and pow same thing. To make a long story short, had a led lightbar on the back of the truck and took it off. Looped the trailer connector back around the hitch after I took it off and didn't think anything of it. Apparentley the brown wire on the connector was against the metal on the hitch therefore shorting it out. Spliced the wires back together and boom problem solved. Thank you all for the great help!

Glad you figured it out but usually anytime you blow a fuse instantly is the symptom of a dead shoprt(ususually bare live wires to ground).
