Just bought a 1995 Tahoe w/ 5.7L TBI last week. 253,*** on the truck, but the motor is a 2 year old GM crate motor with about 50,000 on it. Truck was on fumes when I bought it so I put about 1/4 tank of fuel in it and drove it home. Didn't drive it on the road after that as I had to chase down a brake light issue.

Truck ran fine home and started with no issues. On Sunday it started a little slower (longer crank time), but did start and run fine. Then yesterday morning it would start, but had to feather the gas to keep it running and if I gave it too much pedal it would stall. Left to register it and came back and the truck won't start at all.

Going through the threads I figure I need to start with checking the fuel relay and fuel pressure at the TBI unit. I do have power at the relay (tested that). I am thinking fuel filter cause I think I stirred some shit up at the bottom of the tank and the fuel filter looks like it hasn't ever been changed (lines are pretty rusted together).

Any other suggestions? No check engine light, so I am assuming no codes. My brother has my scanner, hoping to get it back tonight.

Hopefully. Just did a fuel pump on my fathers dodge, really don't want to drop another fuel tank.

Update.....it's the fuel pump. Changed the fuel filter, checked the relay, and checked ground wires. Luckily my straps aren't in too bad of shape. Hopefully will get to do it this weekend. :banghead:

I cut an access door under the back seat floor pan on my Tahoe to get to the pump. 20 minutes to change a pump.

I was thinking of that, but upon closer inspection of the straps I found that they are starting to rot on one side. From the looks of things, I think the previous owner used it to tow a boat. Everything at the rear of the truck is rusted/rotted, but the rest of the truck is in great shape. Only thing I can think of is he dipped the tail end in salt water pulling the boat out and never rinsed it off good. I'd love to :chair: the idiot.
