Has anyone changed out thier chrome trim on thier Yukon or Tahoe?

It's been an interesting day. I ordered 3M gloss black vinyl for my 2019 Yukon window and running board trim, made the decision to outsource it to a pro so it was perfect and I didn't screw it up, he was here all dang day and we couldn't get it to work. The weather stripping under the trim looks like ass tucked under and he just couldn't get it to install right to where it. As he was trying to figure out how to remove the trim I pulled the plug and asked him to take off what he had done and we took it back to stock.

I'm now not a fan of the gloss black vinyl trim because I could see from just the short time with it on the truck it was going to skuff up and look terrible.

I now am researching OEM black trim.

Has anyone gone through this? I'd love to make connection with someone that installed actual black trim in replacement of the chrome and provide feedback (costs, who installed it, things you learned, etc.)

This chrome delete has become a massive project!

That user in the thread Linked above has a pretty in depth installation of the RST/Graphite edition trim peaces. He pretty much covers the Part numbers, Pricing, Installation and Troubleshooting.

I went the Vinyl wrapping route for the window trim on my Yukon and it turned out pretty nice. I'm not sure if your Installer tried this but, since the weather stripping on these vehicles are so tight on the trim you can stick a peace of folded paper between the trim and the weather stripping, making it easier to tuck the vinyl in without scratching up the weather stripping.

50$ roll of Vinyl and 5 hours of my time > 700$ trim + Installation fees.

might need to find an installer that has experience w/ trim ... vs doing body panel

I used a professional Auto Wrap shop that also does vinyl work. He has a lot of experience with vinyl wrapping chrome trim on vehicles and did a great job on the weather strips.
I paid $400 for the trim around the windows, chrome over front headlights and my roof rails. I used the black matte vinyl on the roof rails to match the "plastic" look. This was by far cheaper and EASIER than purchasing black trim pieces and installing. He also had a warranty and guarantee, so if something got messed up down the road he would help fix it.

Wish I could find someone in the Dallas area that could do that work, has done it on a Yukon, and would warranty it. Sounds like the route to go for sure.

Dude. It’s only $2-500. Just do it. If it comes off on 3 years do it again.

I went to a shop that does wraps and asked about the chrome trim and the owner told me they wouldn't do it because they couldn't warrant the work and have had bad luck in the past with the trim. (18 Tahoe). After reading through these threads, I suppose I'll find a better and more competent shop. Definitely the cheaper route compared to buying the GM black trim.

Switching out the trim is a pain and cost much more. I went with the gloss black wrap to replace all of the chrome. I even did the door handles.

Some more pictures. On a white Yukon you can see a major difference. Kinda like getting a facelift.
