So if you just purchased the tahoe you do not relate....smh

Well that's fine, shake your head but one would think one of those vehicles would have the same setup if Chevy just recently changed it.

Also, you just said your old truck, didn't mention anything about it being a Tahoe, let alone a Chevy. Didn't know if this was common practice but you are obviously so much smarter than I am so that's where the disconnect was.

My Tahoe has a 26-gallon tank. The low fuel warning came on yesterday, so I filled up the gas tank with 23.1 gallons of gas within a couple of miles of the warning. So, I had just less than 40 miles left of in-town driving before I would have been caught in stupid mode.

I always let my 2010 Tahoe and 1995 Chevy truck almost run out of gas before I refill. With the government-mandated poor quality gas we have, I don't want 1/4 to 1/2 of old gas always diluting the next load of gas I put in a vehicle.

I have been paying strict attention to my mileage and gas consumption and trying to confirm it really holds 26 gallons all w/o running out of gas! LOL

I was pulling a boat with the 2010 Tahoe when the low fuel warning came on before I was entering Sweetwater, TX with no gas stations around. By the time I got to a gas station, I knew I was pushing it. Filled up with 25.1 gallons and got a whopping 9.52 MPG on that tank. I was within about eight or nine miles of sucking air.

Dude, take it easy....sorry if I came off harsh. Its a known fact that the Tahoe/Yukons/Escalades all have a ****** pump design...Again sorry if you took it the wrong way! :Handshake:

Correct, If I had to bet I would have assumed it was a 22 or 23 gallon tank.....

I honestly think that these trucks have larger gas tanks than what they tell you. Just so people who are trying to get as close to empty as possible don't accidentally go too far. I may be wrong, I would put some money on it that these tanks are 26.9 gallons or something, so they can say it's 26, but closer to 27.

Its probably a 26 but when the light comes on I think you still have 4 full gallons left. JMHO

I have filled my truck with 24 gallons before. I hit low fuel, drove another 40 miles, then fueled it up. stopped at 22 gallons. Then slowly pumped 2 more until I can see it in the spout. Totaled only like 24 and change. I read somewhere that American cars can drive up to like 80 miles after they say they are "empty," to prevent running out.
Also, beside the point, the fuel pump is in the gas tank, so it's not good to run the tank below 1/4 tank. For future reference.

Hopefully you don't fill up like that all the time. That's a good way to mess up your charcoal canister and evap solenoid. When it shuts it's self off don't add any more. Unless you think it shut off way too early.
