Have to replace my 2015 Yukon XL Denali

Got into a car accident and time to replace my 2015 Yukon XL Denali - 200k miles.

Probably was time anyway - eating 1 qt of oil every 1000 miles, a bunch of electronics failures that I was living with. I did replace the transmission a year ago because of the failed torque converter but never had a lifter issue due to AFM.

Looking at - 2017 or a 2019 based on local availability. Would also be a Denali.

What issues are out there? How good is the 10 spd? Are the lifters still a risk?

Sorry about your loss. Hopefully the insurance company did right by you. I can only speak on the 10 speed transmission in my 23 Sierra Denali with the 5.3. Compared to my 07 Yukon Denali it’s fantastic. From first gear to around 5th it pulls and pulls with no lag. It’s definitely smoother and quicker too though I still love my 07.

There are bound to be differing opinions but most I’ve read point toward the 5.3 and 10 speed being a great combo. It’s a good time of year to be car shopping.

They guys on here generally regard the later K2s as being the most reliable. @PG01

I've got the 10 speed in my Suburban premier with the 6.2 engine. You'll love this transmission. Ours is relatively low mileage -- we use it mostly when the grandkids come to town.

Other than the roof rails which squeaked and the deployable passenger steps we haven't had an issue since we brought it home.

Do yourself a big upgrade and get the 2018-2020. I have had them all. Hated the 6 speed, really liked the 8 speed, I had not one issue on 2 trucks, BUT the 10 speed is the bomb. I have it on the wifes escalade and my 21 Denali. Awesome trans in comparison to earlier ones.
